Professional Conduct Complaints

The College of Dental Hygienists of Nova Scotia (CDHNS) manages complaints, investigations and hearing processes in accordance with the Dental Hygienists Act, Regulation, and other applicable legislation and policies. A complaint alleging conduct unbecoming of a dental hygienist, incompetence, incapacity, and/or professional misconduct may come from a member of the public, an employer, another health professional, another College, and members of the CDHNS. The Registrar may refer a complaint on behalf of the College.

Members include those on the general register and those on the provisional register of the CDHNS. A complaint may be made against a former member.

Receipt of Complaints

Professional Conduct Complaints submitted to the Director of Complaints must:

  • Be in writing
  • Include the name of the Member (Registrant)
  • Identify the issue/concerns of the complaint
  • Include the contact information of the person filing the complaint
  • Be signed by the person filing the complaint
