Draft Practice Standards Consultation-Feedback Sought

April 11, 2025

The College of Dental Hygienists of Nova Scotia (CDHNS) is seeking feedback on two new draft dental hygiene Standards of Practice ― Professional Judgment and Collaboration with Healthcare Professionals and Communication and Use of Ionizing Radiation
Registrants of the CDHNS and all system partners are invited to provide feedback during a two-week period from April 11, 2025, to April 25, 2025.

These documents are an important part of aligning our regulatory framework with the upcoming transition to the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA) and our simultaneous amalgamation with denturists and dental technologists, when we will become the Nova Scotia Regulator of Dental Hygiene, Dental Technology, and Denturism (NSRDHDTD). The gov't proposed date for this transition is still May 1, 2025. These Standards will help ensure dental hygienists continue to provide safe, ethical, and competent care within the new legislative context.

Those wishing to submit feedback on these draft Standards are invited to respond via email by Friday April 25, 2025, to registrar@cdhns.ca. Please use the subject line(s): Feedback on Draft Practice Standard on Ionizing Radiography OR Feedback on Draft Practice Standard on Professional Judgment and Collaboration with Healthcare Professionals and Communication.

Please review the cover letter and the draft Practice Standards ― Prof-Collab-Consult and Ionizing Radiation.
